About the Brand

Apricari offers Contemporary garments with a retro twist. Designing colourful womenswear that transitions from day to night. Derived from the Latin word Apricatus, Apricari translates to the phrase “bask in the sun.” The sun symbolizes oneself, as we share our light with other; in the same way Apricari strives to bring confidence, life, and energy.

About the Designer

Stefanie Newton is a contemporary-retro womenswear designer, from just outside of Toronto, Ontario. Stefanie has always been interested in art and design, however it was not until a sewing camp recommended by friends, that she truly found her passion. Working with bold colours and patterns, she aims to create a brand that bursts with energy and positivity.
Stefanie attended the Toronto Film School and studied Fashion Design; receiving top honours in every course she was enrolled in during the 18-month fast track. Handpicked by her design thesis instructor, Stefanie competed with a team on behalf of the school at the Creativ Festival: Project Creativ Catwalk competition held in Mississauga. She was also given the opportunity to intern at PYA Importer, working with the design team for brands LINE Knitwear and John + Jenn.
Her second passion lies in photography, videography, and graphic design. She has worked on several small independent film projects, taking on roles such as costume designer, director and editor. She currently works part-time as a graphic designer, at a local printing business in her hometown.
Stefanie is the lead designer and founder of the fashion brand Apricari, producing and selling her collections online and in boutiques. For some background on her brand, Apricari is derived from the Latin word Apricatus, and translates to the phrase “bask in the sun.” The sun symbolizes oneself, as we share our light with other; in the same way Apricari strives to bring confidence, life, and energy.
